A major goal of Conference is to provide opportunities for students to showcase their projects and skills. To encourage this, a number of student-centered competitions are hosted by the EAST Initiative and other sponsors before and during Conference!

Who Can Enter?

All current EAST students, not just those attending Conference, may enter competitions. A student from your Conference team can accept an award on their behalf at the event.

Competition Benefits

Not only is it exciting to win and receive cool prizes, but students also gain experience and recognition from their peers. In addition:

  • Entering and/or winning a competition looks good on a resumé
  • Participating in competitions can garner administrative support and funding
  • Competitions provide a positive challenge
  • Competitions increase experience, self-confidence and growth
  • Competition deadlines help students develop organization skills and provide “real-world” experience

Competitions are offered as an opportunity for student growth and celebration. Students should not be encouraged to submit applications for a grade and require confirmation from EAST Initiative staff for evidence of participation.

Student Work Must Be Original

Submissions should be original and completely student-created.
